این یک محیط توسعه است که ابتدا برای جاوا طراحی شده اما برخی از زبانهای دیگر را نیز پشتیبانی می‌کند.

بصورت کد باز است و در سه سیستم عامل ویندوز لینوکس و مک قابل استفاده است. بخصوص سولاریس که سیستم عامل سان است.
با خرید MySQL توسط سان پشتیبانی از آن در این نرم افزار بهتر شده است.
