Advanced
Performance
Turbo Setting
The DWL-7000AP is adhere to IEEE 802.11a standard in providing high date wireless transfer rates of up to 54Mbps. Capable of providing date rates of up to 72Mbps by enabling the Turbo Mode.

Channel
Indicates the channel setting for the DWL-7000AP . By default the channel for 11g is set to 6, for 11a is set to 36. The Channel can be changed to fit the channel setting for an existing wireless network or to customize the wireless network.

Data Rate
Select the basic transfer rates based on the speed of wireless adapters on the WLAN (wireless local area network).

Beacon interval (20-1000)
Beacons are packets sent by an Access Point to synchronize a wireless network. Specify a Beacon interval value between 20 and 1000. The default value is set to 100 milliseconds.

DTIM interval (1-255)
Enter a value between 1 and 255 for the Delivery Traffic Indication Message (DTIM). A DTIM is a countdown informing clients of the next window for listening to broadcast and multicast messages. When the Access Point has buffered broadcast or multicast messages for associated clients, it sends the next DTIM with a DTIM Interval value. AP clients hear the beacons and awaken to receive the broadcast and multicast messages. The default value for DTIM interval is set to 3.

Fragmentation Length (256-2346)
This value should remain at its default setting of 2346. If you experience a high packet error rate, you may slightly increase your "Fragmentation" value within the value range of 256 to 2346. Setting the Fragmentation value too low may result in poor performance.

RTS Length (256-2346)
This value should remain at its default setting of 2346. If you encounter inconsistent data flow, only minor modifications to the value range between 256 and 2346 are recommended. The default value for RTS Threshold is set to 2346.

Transmit Power
Transmitting power can be limited for circumstances where cell overlap is not desired or interference is a concern. The options are full (default), half (¡V3dB), quarter (-6dB), eighth (-9dB) or min (minimum).

Filters
The DWL-7000AP can be setup to deny access to wireless clients using the MAC addresses for the wireless adapters. This is the same as an "Access Control List".
Access Control List
Use the client MAC Address filtering to authorize network access through the Access Point.
Select Allow to enable communication between the Access Point and other wireless devices with MAC addresses listed in the Authorization table.
Select Deny to disable communication between the Access Point and other wireless devices with MAC addresses listed in the Authorization table.

Internal Station Connection
When this is enabled there is no barrier to communication among wireless stations using the Access Point. If this is disabled, wireless stations of the selected band (802.11a 0r 802.11g) are not allowed to exchange data through the Access Point.

Ethernet to WLAN Access
When this is enabled there is no barrier to data flow from the Ethernet to wireless devices using the Access Point. If this is disabled, all data from the Ethernet to associated wireless devices is blocked. Wireless devices can still send data to the Ethernet.
Connection Between 802.11a & 802.11g
When this is enabled, devices on the 802.11a network are able to exchange data with devices on the 802.11gnetwork through the Access Point. If this is disabled, a partition is created between the networks within the Access Point. That is, data from any associated device on the 802.11a cannot send data to or receive data from another device on the 802.11gnetwork through the Access Point.

Encryption
Authentication
For added security on the wireless network, when enabling Encryption, the Authentication type can also be selected. If Shared Key is selected, the Access Point will not be seen on the wireless network except to the wireless clients that share the same WEP key If Open System is chosen, only the wireless clients with the same WEP key will be able to communicate on the wireless network, but the Access Point will be visible to all devices on the network. The default value for Authentication is set to "Auto".

Open System/Shared Key
With this setting both shared and open system are employed. Stations have the option of using either but must still have the correct key to decrypt data.

802.1x
If you use 802.1x you do not need to supply a WEP key. This is an access control system used for Ethernet and wireless networks and a key is generated autimatically from a server or switch. In order to use 802.1x you must have the system running on implementing PAE. After applying the settings and restarting the Access Point, you must choose to use a raidus server or a local server or switch for Authentication. Use the Encyption menu to select where authentication information comes from and what size key to use.

WEP
Wired Equivalent Protocol (WEP) is a wireless security protocol for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). WEP provides security by encrypting the data that is sent over the WLAN. The DWL-7000AP supports 3 levels of WEP Encryption: 64Bit encryption, 128Bit encryption, and 256Bit encryption for IEEE 802.11gand 64Bit encryption, 128Bit encryption, and 152Bit encryption for IEEE 802.11a. WEP is disabled by default. The WEP setting can be changed to fit an existing wireless network or to customize your wireless network.

Key Type
The Key Types that are supported by the DWL-7000AP are HEX (Hexadecimal) and ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange.) The Key Type can be changed to fit an existing wireless network or to customize your wireless network.

Valid Key
Keys 1-4 allow you to easily change wireless encryption settings to maintain a secure network. Simply select the specific key to be used for encrypting wireless data on the network.
