This is partly down to post-Code Red and Nimda, and even the 9/11 issue. But with the spending reports, it is hard to see whether it is proactive or reactive spending. Your overall spending may have gone up as you are responding to issues. In reality, it's a mix of an increase in responsive spending to viruses and so on, and because of that need, firms have also spent more on protecting their systems through proactive spending.
